RFID traceability system is going to replace barcode labels, Datamatrix or 2D labels or incremented labels within a few years. RFID tags can be used in several applications:

Very small RFID label, requiring an extreme precision (+- 0.5 mm)
Non adhesive RFID label including chemical products resistance
Multi cutting traceability RFID labels, thermal transfer printing, UL standard approved material, detergents resistant
Many solutions can be considered regarding the chosen traceability system: Active RFID Tag, passive RFID Tag, UHF RFID Tag, HF RFID Tag, antitheft label. Contactless traceability labels contain an RFID inlet. The frequency of this one is determined regarding environment, regarding the volume of data to be registered and the product lengthlife.
Electronic labels are able to store a huge quantity of information, this is the reason why they are told intelligent labels, smart labels.
